Memorial Day 2011 is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May that is the 30th of May 2011. Earlier known as Decoration Day, it honors and commemorates all those US soldiers who lost their lives while in the military service, serving the nation. A tradition started after the Civil War, it was later extended to honor Americans who died in all wars. What began as a ritual of reconciliation and remembrance, by the early 20th century, Memorial Day soon transformed into an occasion for more general expressions of memory, as ordinary people visited the graves of their deceased relatives, or to pay respects to all those brave men and women who fought valiantly for the glory of their nation.
Memorial Day barbeques have become intensely popular. Get past dumpy denims and t-shirts and look chic and elegant this spring in a casual yet charming ensemble that says I’m here to party, and I look fabulous doing it!
Wear a fun and frilly print sleeveless or strapless dress. Shorter hemlines are usually preferably as are light materials. For a casual look, select a pair of dainty ballerinas to match your dress. Flats or wedged heels are a smarter option since you may have to stand quite a bit. Remember the prints on your dress should be light and fun. Brighter colors look great for a BBQ party.
Another great idea is to show off your patriotic side for Memorial Day in an outfit that plays up the good old red, white, and blue. Although whites are a popular choice, try and steer clear of the fascinating color at BBQ parties just in case an errant splash of barbecue sauce comes your way. Patterned looks are probably your best option. Light, casual dresses are the most fun things to wear. Another favorite among women are jumpsuits. They look cute and are comfortable too.
Don’t forget to accessorize your Memorial Day dress of choice well – a beaded necklace maybe, a cute handbag and a sweet little bracelet should complete the look.
