Valentine Day GuideWhoever said that Valentine’s Day is restricted for couples? Challenge Cupid this year and indulge yourself in these six solo pursuits, guaranteed to make you look forward to several more Valentine Days!!!

    1. Round up the gang
I bet you aren’t the only single one in your friend circle. Round up all your male and female single friends. Dress up in your quirkiest and ‘girliest’ bold dress and get out there and have a blast.

    2. Movie Mania
Indulge yourself to some celeb romancing. Pick out all your favorite celeb movies and spend the night with candle light swooning over your hot celeb hunk.

    3. Crazy Cupid
This is much like Secret Santa. Round up all your friends – single or just those fun couples willing to participate and play a game of Crazy Cupid.

Put down the name of all your friends and yourself in chits. Every friend picks up a name each and becomes crazy cupid for the one he/she has picked. Fix a budget in advance and purchase a gift for the person whose name you’ve got in the chit. Keeping the name a secret till the 14th is more fun! Now create another bowl of chits with dares in it. Example: I first pick a chit with a name. I then pick a chit with a dare like ‘make up a crazy love song rhyming with the name you’ve picked.

On the 14th, head to a fun pub, where you and your friends can hang out and make as much noise as possible. Dress up in your favorite mini dress and play Crazy Cupid. Don’t forget to click a lot of pics.

    4. Indulge Yourself

Who said pampering is only for couples. Since you are not spending your money on some guy, you might as well spend it all in pampering yourself .Head out on the 14th and spend a day pampering your self. Get a massage and get your hair done in that style you always wanted. Buy a gorgeous new gown or better still order one from an internet site. Spray yourself with your favorite perfume. Head out to a club. Who knows, you may attract more than a single pair of interested eyes!
    5. Date

Ask a single guy friend out on a platonic date. Choose a nice quiet place; dress up in a gorgeous floor length evening gown just like you would for a normal date. Head out with your friend and do something fun like rate the couples around you (there will be plenty!). Don’t forget to split the bill!
    6. Party
There is nothing more fun than a single’s party. Select a fun theme for your party. Let the alcohol flow and don’t forget the wine, appetizers and plenty of gossiping. A girl’s night out to celebrate your freedom is the perfect way to toast to your singledom!

Its time for you to dress up and bring on the glamour! It’s your big date and there’s probably nothing you want more than to make a superb first impression. I bet you have the perfect dress selected and the perfect shoes and the perfect accessories but are you missing the basics? Do you have to check on something more?

Here are a few basic tips that every guy notices in a girl and every girl (in fact every guy too) should adhere too, date or no date.

    1.     1 .Cleanliness

Nothing beats cleanliness and no amount of beauty products could possibly be a substitute for a clean body. Bathe before you date. Make sure to clean out all those areas where you perspire with soap and water. There are plenty of body shower gels that smell great, which are also a great option. Soak yourself in a bath tub or run yourself a bath or have a shower (I don’t recommend the latter for ecological reasons) – either ways smell fresh. When you feel fresh, it shows. Clean out your ears and the back of your neck. It’s the spots people often forget to rub down. How would you like to see your hot date dressed like a star and smelling great but having dirt ears?? That’s exactly how your date is going to feel about you and your ears. So don’t forget to clean them up.

    2. Smell Good

An important tip – Always apply fragrance directly on your skin instead of on your clothes. Naked skin always always wins. The smell filters though your clothes and spreads pleasantness about you. Even if you overdo it with the perfume, the clothes kind of absorb it, leaving only a pleasant lingering smell rather than a smell that can cause water to come out of your date’s eyes.

While perfumes are applied on the skin, if you prefer using a deodorant, then stick to using them on clothes and not directly on the skin.

    3. Nail Care

While it’s not compulsory for you to get a manicure and pedicure done every time you go out for a date, it does help to have clean finger and toe nails. It’s rather horrible if you show up for your date with neatly cut nails filled with black goo! It’s not compulsory that you have to paint your nails. My mother has never painted her nails but I have never seen cleaner finger and toe nails. Her nails are always well shaped and they look pink and healthy.

It’s not such a great idea to come with neon pink painted nails on your first date. You don’t want to blind your date for life. Opt for more subtle shades, if you like bright colors; pick something bright like a subtle shade with shimmer.

    4. Clothing

Don’t overdo it on your first date. Check the location of your first date and dress appropriately. There’s no point in heading out in a mid thigh length fluffy dress if it’s below freezing temperatures. You really don’t want to spend your first date with him trying to save you from hypothermia. Too much of skin show may send out the wrong message. As will crumpled, wrinkled and torn clothing. He may think that you just haven’t bothered enough to dress up.

Follow these basic tips and prepare to make a dazzling first impression.

    beauty-tips

Being a teenager is so not easy! We’ve got all our new found emotions and feelings to cope with plus the joy of our parents not understanding us and then even more joyously we have to deal with the changes in our body and skin and apparently we are supposed to have it easy!!!! We should be given an award for even making an attempt to look great everyday.

All the changes in our body take a toll and for some strange reason seem to find an outlet in our skin! So here are a few do’s and don’ts of make up and looking good that I think every teen should know. (Why is all this not taught in school??)

    Foundation:

Foundation is a definite no-no for a teenager. Foundation is for women above 35 to cover wrinkles and dark spots created by age. If you want to cover up acne use a concealer followed by powder or tinted moisturizer. Tip: Always pat the concealer into your skin rather than rubbing it.

    Highlight:

In an attempt to dress up, a common folly is to overdo the makeup with deep eye shadow and bright lipstick. STOP! Accentuate only one feature. If you’re highlighting your eyes, then never ever overdo your lips. If you really want to apply something to your lips you can opt for a nude shade or just simple gloss will do. Tip: Your lip liner should always match your lipstick. Lips look really horrible when they are outlined with a dark shade and have a contrasting shade inside. Lip liners are meant to define lips and not outline them!

    Color your hair!

While nothing can ever compromise natural hair, always opt for fun highlights that match your skin, eyes and look as natural as possible.

    Vaseline:

Vaseline is worth its weight in gold just because of the number of benefits it reaps! Its not only a superb but also a fabulous eye makeup remover. Of course, its perfect to soften those dry, cracked lips and did you know that it’s a great mascara too. Just use a little Vaseline on you eyelashes to highlight them!

    Acne:

Don’t listen to anyone. Do not go even consider make up tips to cure it or home remedies. The best and the most effective way of solving acne is to visit a dermatologist. It may fall on the pricier side, but believe me, it’s a one time solution!

    Test your makeup:

Rule no 1 of purchasing beauty products: Always test it. Just because it looks awesome on your friend does not mean that it will suit you.

    Sunscreen:

Always always apply a good sunscreen lotion. Come sun, come rain or come shine! If you want healthy and great skin even at the age of 60, follow my advice.

    Nail care:

It’s fine if you’re not into manicures and pedicures. My mom doesn’t believe in them and her fingers and toes glow more than most people who visit a nail spa 4 times a month. The key to good nails is healthy nails. Keep you nails clean, well cut and shaped. Do not over grow your toe nails. They look horrible. Chipped nail polish is another turn off. Always use a good branded nail polish to avoid the yellowing of your nails.
